I am the first man among the Arabs to shoot an arrow in the cause of Allah. I remember when we used to fight alongside the Messenger of Allah ﷺ with no food except the leaves of the hubla tree and this samur tree, until one of us would relieve himself the way a sheep does. Now here are the tribe of Banu Asad trying to discipline me in matters of religion. If that were so, I would have failed and my deeds would have been in vain.
