The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "The testimony of a treacherous man or woman is not accepted, nor that of someone who has been flogged for a prescribed punishment, male or female, nor that of one who harbors a grudge against his brother, nor that of one known for false testimony, nor that of a dependent who lives with the household whose case it is, nor that of one suspected regarding clientage or kinship."Fazari said, "Al-qani means the dependent."This is a strange hadith. We know it only through the narration of Yazid bin Ziyad al-Dimashqi, and Yazid is considered weak in hadith. This hadith is not known from Zuhri except through his narration.
[Its isnad is daif] Daraqutni reported it (4:244) through the hadith of Yazid bin Ziyad Dimashqi, with the same wording, and said, "This Yazid is daif, not to be relied upon." Abu Dawud reported it (no. 3600, 3601) with a hasan isnad, "The testimony of a treacherous man or woman is not permissible, nor that of a fornicator or fornicatress, nor that of one who bears a grudge against his brother."On this subject there is also a report from Ibn Amr [Abu Dawud, no. 3601].
