The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "When my nation walks with arrogant strutting and is served by the sons of kings, the sons of Persia and Rome, their worst will be set in power over their best."

[Sahih]. Ibn Mubarak also reported it in Zuhd (Additions of Naeem bin Hammad Sadooq: 178) through Musa bin Ubayda, and this chain is daif. As for the hadith of Muhammad bin Ismail Wasiti, Abu Naeem reported it in Dalail Nubuwwah (2/196, no. 466), and Abu Muawiya Darir explicitly stated that he heard it directly, in his version, and its chain is sahih. The hadith has many corroborating witnesses in Ibn Hibban (no. 1864) and elsewhere.
