The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "The world will not come to an end until a man from my household rules over the Arabs whose name matches mine."
[Its isnad is hasan]. Abu Dawud transmitted it in the Book of Tribulations and Portents, chapter on the Mahdi, no. 4282, from the hadith of Sufyan Thawri with the same chain, and he explicitly stated that he heard it directly, as recorded by Ahmad, 1/377, 430. Ibn Hibban graded it sahih, nos. 1886, 1887, and so did Dhahabi in Talkhis Al-Mustadrak, 4/442.There are also reports on this subject from Ali [Abu Dawud, no. 4283], Abu Saeed [Abu Dawud, no. 4285], Umm Salama [Abu Dawud, no. 4284], and Abu Hurairah [to come, no. 2231].
