The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to say frequently, "Turner of hearts, keep my heart firm upon Your religion."I said, "Messenger of Allah, we have believed in you and in what you have brought. Do you fear for us?"He replied, "Yes. Hearts are between two of the fingers of Allah, and He turns them however He wills."

كان رسول الله ﷺ يكثر أن يقول يا مقلب القلوب ثبت قلبي على دينك فقلت يا رسول الله آمنا بك وبما جئت به فهل تخاف علينا قال نعم إن القلوب بين أصبعين من أصابع الله يقلبها كيف يشاء
[Sahih]. Ibn Majah also narrated it in Kitab al-Duaa, Chapter on the Supplication of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, no. 3834, from the hadith of Amash with the same wording. Hakim graded it sahih (1/526), and Dhahabi agreed with him. It has corroborating narrations recorded by the author, which will appear at no. 3522, and by Ibn Majah at no. 199, and others.There are also narrations on this subject from Nawas bin Saman [Ibn Majah, no. 199, and Nasai in al-Kubra, no. 7738], Umm Salama [will appear at no. 3522, with a hasan chain], Abdullah bin Amr [Muslim, 26/2654], Ayesha [Ahmad, 6/91, 250, 418, and Nasai in al-Kubra, no. 10136, and Tuhfat al-Ashraf, 11, no. 16059], and Abu Dharr.
