The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Nothing repels divine decree except supplication, and nothing increases one's lifespan except righteousness."
حدثنا محمد بن حميد الرازي وسعيد بن يعقوب قالا حدثنا يحيى بن الضريس عن أبي مودود عن سليمان التيمي عن أبي عثمان النهدي
قال رسول الله ﷺ لا يرد القضاء إلا الدعاء ولا يزيد في العمر إلا البر
[Its chain is daif] Tahawi narrated it in Mushkil Athar, 4/169, and Tabarani, 6/251, hadith 6128, from the hadith of Saeed bin Yaqub, from him. Abu Mawdud is Abdul-Aziz bin Abu Sulayman. It has a corroborating witness in Ibn Majah, hadith 90 and 4022, which Ibn Hibban graded sahih, hadith 1090, as did Hakim, 1/493, and Dhahabi, but its chain is daif because of Thawri's use of "an" in transmission.
