The Prophet ﷺ said, "Adam and Musa argued with one another.Musa said, 'Adam, you are the one whom Allah created with His own hand and into whom He breathed of His spirit. You misled people and caused them to be expelled from Paradise.'Adam replied, 'And you are Musa, whom Allah chose to speak with directly. Do you blame me for a deed that Allah had decreed upon me before He created the heavens and the earth?'"The Prophet ﷺ said, "So Adam outargued Musa."
حدثنا يحيى بن حبيب بن عربي حدثنا المعتمر بن سليمان حدثنا أبي عن سليمان الأعمش عن أبي صالح
عن النبي ﷺ قال احتج آدم وموسى فقال موسى يا آدم أنت الذي خلقك الله بيده ونفخ فيك من روحه أغويت الناس وأخرجتهم من الجنة قال فقال آدم وأنت موسى الذي اصطفاك الله بكلامه أتلومني على عمل عملته كتبه الله علي قبل أن يخلق السموات والأرض قال فحج آدم موسى
Sahih. Nasai also reported it in Kubra, as noted in Tuhfat Ashraf 12389/9, from Yahya bin Habib, with the same chain. Ahmad reported it, 398/2, from the hadith of Amash. Bukhari, no. 3409, and Muslim, no. 2652, reported it through various chains from Abu Hurairah, with the same wording, and it is part of the Sahifah of Hammam bin Munabbih, no. 45.There is also a narration on this topic from Umar [Abu Dawud, no. 4702] and from Jundab [Ahmad, 464/2, and Ibn Abu Asim in Sunnah, no. 143].
