Umar said, "The blood-money is the responsibility of the killer's paternal male relatives, and a woman does not inherit anything from her husband's blood-money."Then Dahhak bin Sufyan al-Kilabi informed him that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ had written to him instructing that he give the wife of Ashyam Dibabi a share of inheritance from her husband's blood-money.
حدثنا قتيبة وأحمد بن منيع وغير واحد قالوا حدثنا سفيان بن عيينة عن الزهري
قال عمر الدية على العاقلة ولا ترث المرأة من دية زوجها شيئا فأخبره الضحاك بن سفيان الكلابي أن رسول الله ﷺ كتب إليه أن ورث امرأة أشيم الضبابي من دية زوجها
[Sahih]. Abu Dawud also narrated it in the Book of Inheritance Shares, chapter on the woman inheriting from her husband's blood money, no. 2927, and Ibn Majah, no. 2642, both from the hadith of Sufyan bin Uyayna, by this route. Ibn Jarud graded it sahih, no. 966. It has supporting narrations in Tabarani, 5/276, no. 5310, and elsewhere.
