A man died during the time of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and left no heir except a slave whom he had freed, so the Prophet ﷺ gave him his inheritance.
حدثنا ابن أبي عمر حدثنا سفيان عن عمرو بن دينار عن عوسجة
أن رجلا مات على عهد رسول الله ﷺ ولم يدع وارثا إلا عبدا هو أعتقه فأعطاه النبي ﷺ ميراثه
Sourcing, hasan. Ibn Majah also recorded it in "The Book of Inheritance Shares," chapter, "One who has no heir," hadith 2741, from the hadith of Sufyan bin Uyayna, and Abu Dawud recorded it, hadith 2905, from the hadith of Amr bin Dinar, with the same wording. Nasai said, "Awsaja is not well known," while Abu Zura, Ibn Hibban, and Tirmidhi affirmed his reliability, and their assessment of his trustworthiness is the stronger view.
