The Messenger of Allah ﷺ came to visit me while I was ill among Banu Salama. I said, "Prophet of Allah, how shall I divide my wealth among my children?" He gave me no reply, and then the verse was revealed, "Allah instructs you concerning your children. For the male, what is equal to the share of two females" [Nisa 4:11].
