The Messenger of Allah ﷺ came to me while I was suffering from a pain that was destroying me. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Wipe over the area with your right hand seven times and say, 'I seek refuge in the might of Allah, His power, and His authority from the evil of what I find.'"I did so, and Allah removed what was afflicting me. I have continued ever since to instruct my family and others to use it.
حدثنا إسحق بن موسى الأنصاري حدثنا معن حدثنا مالك عن يزيد بن خصيفة عن عمرو بن عبد الله بن كعب السلمي أن نافع بن جبير بن مطعم أخبره
أتاني رسول الله ﷺ وبي وجع قد كان يهلكني فقال رسول الله ﷺ امسح بيمينك سبع مرات وقل أعوذ بعزة الله وقدرته وسلطانه من شر ما أجد قال ففعلت فأذهب الله ما كان بي فلم أزل آمر به أهلي وغيرهم
[Sahih] Abu Dawud also recorded it in the Book of Medicine, chapter on how incantations are performed, no. 3891, from the hadith of Malik, and Ibn Majah, no. 3522, from the hadith of Yazid bin Khusayfa, and Muslim, no. 2202, from the hadith of Nafi bin Jubayr, through the same chain. The hadith is also found in the Muwatta, 2/942.
