The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "The imam is a guarantor and the muezzin is entrusted. Allah, guide the imams aright and forgive the muezzins."
حدثنا هناد حدثنا أبو الأحوص وأبو معاوية عن الأعمش عن أبي صالح
قال رسول الله ﷺ الإمام ضامن والمؤذن مؤتمن اللهم أرشد الأئمة واغفر للمؤذنين
[Hasan] Abu Dawud also reported it, Prayer, chapter on what is obligatory upon the muezzin regarding attentiveness to the time, no. 518, from the hadith of Amash with this wording. It has a hasan corroborating witness in Ahmad 6/65. Ibn Khuzayma graded it sahih, 3/16, no. 1531, as did Ibn Hibban, no. 362.On this same subject there are reports from Ayesha [Ahmad 6/65], from Sahl bin Saad [Ibn Majah, no. 981], and from Uqba bin Amir [we did not find it].The hadith of Nafi bin Sulayman is found in Ahmad 6/65.
