Messenger of Allah, the children of Jafar are quickly affected by the evil eye. Shall I seek a ruqyah for them?He replied, "Yes, for if anything were to outstrip destiny, it would be the evil eye."
[Sahih]. Ibn Majah also reported it in the Book of Medicine, chapter on one who seeks a ruqyah for the evil eye, no. 3510, from the hadith of Sufyan, on the same authority, and Ayub also transmitted it in agreement with him, as the author, may Allah have mercy on him, stated. The hadith has other routes of transmission in Muslim, no. 2188, and elsewhere. Also on this subject are the narrations from Imran bin Husayn [mentioned earlier at 2057] and Burayda [Muslim, no. 220].The hadith of Abdul-Razzaq was reported by Nasai in Al-Kubra, as noted in Tuhfat Ashraf, no. 15758, though it was misprinted in the published edition as 7537.
