I came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ together with a cousin of mine, and he said to us, "When you travel, give the call to prayer and the iqamah, and let the elder of you lead the prayer."
حدثنا محمود بن غيلان حدثنا وكيع عن سفيان عن خالد الحذاء عن أبي قلابة
قدمت على رسول الله ﷺ أنا وابن عم لي فقال لنا إذا سافرتما فأذنا وأقيما وليؤمكما أكبركما
Agreed upon (by Bukhari and Muslim). Bukhari narrated it in the Book of Adhan, chapter "The adhan for travelers when they are in a group, and the iqamah... etc.," Hadith 630, from the narration of Sufyan Thawri. And Muslim narrated it in the Book of Mosques, chapter "Who is most entitled to lead the prayer?", Hadith 674, from the narration of Khalid Haddan, with similar wording.
