I said, "Messenger of Allah, suppose I pass by a man and he neither offers me hospitality nor takes me in as a guest, then he later passes by me. Should I repay him in kind?"He replied, "No, show him hospitality."He saw me wearing shabby clothes and asked, "Do you have any wealth?"I answered, "I have wealth of every kind. Allah has given me camels and sheep."He said, "Then let it show on you."

Abu Dawud narrated it in the Book of Clothing, chapter on worn-out garments and washing clothes, no. 4063, and Nasai, no. 5225, both from the hadith of Abu Ishaq, with the same content, and he explicitly stated that he heard it directly, and Shubah also narrated it from him.On this subject there are also narrations from Ayesha [Bukhari, no. 3560, and Muslim, no. 2327, 2328], Jabir [Bukhari, no. 2910, and Muslim, no. 843], and Abu Hurairah [Abu Shaykh in Akhlaq an-Nabi, pp. 80, 81].
