The Prophet ﷺ said to him, "You with the two ears!" Mahmud said, Abu Usama explained that he meant it as a joke. This hadith is sahih and gharib.
حدثنا محمود بن غيلان حدثنا أبو أسامة عن شريك عن عاصم الأحول
أن النبي ﷺ قال له يا ذا الأذنين قال محمود قال أبو أسامة يعني مازحه وهذا الحديث حديث صحيح غريب
Sourcing, hasan. Ahmad narrated it, 3/127, from Abu Usama, and Abu Dawud, no. 5002, from the hadith of Sharik Nakhai, with the same wording, and it will come again at 3828. It has a hasan corroborating narration with Tabarani in Al-Kabir, 1/240, no. 662.
