A man cursed the wind in the presence of the Prophet ﷺ, so he said, "Do not curse the wind, for it is under command. Whoever curses something that does not deserve it, the curse returns upon him."
Its isnad is daif. Abu Dawud narrated it in the Book of Manners, chapter on cursing, hadith 4908, from Zayd bin Akhzam with the same wording, and Ibn Hibban graded it sahih, hadith 1988. Qatada used an ambiguous form of transmission (an'ana). Part of the hadith has many corroborating narrations found in Bukhari's Adab al-Mufrad, hadith 720, Ibn Hibban, hadith 1989, Hakim, 4/285, and others. See also the coming hadith, 2252.
