The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Two traits never combine in a believer, stinginess and bad character."

[Its chain of transmission is daif] Abu Naeem narrated it in Hilyat Awliya 2/388 from the hadith of Sadaqah with the same wording, and said, "It is unusual (gharib) as a hadith of Malik, transmitted alone by Sadaqah, and he is daif." The majority declared him daif due to issues with his memory. The hadith is also found in the Musnad of Abu Dawud Tayalisi, no. 2208.There is also a corroborating narration on this subject from Abu Hurairah [mentioned previously at no. 1961].
