A man came to the Prophet ﷺ and asked, "Messenger of Allah, how often should I pardon a servant?"The Messenger of Allah ﷺ remained silent.The man asked again, "Messenger of Allah, how often should I pardon a servant?"He replied, "Seventy times each day."

جاء رجل إلى النبي ﷺ فقال يا رسول الله كم أعفو عن الخادم فصمت عنه رسول الله ﷺ ثم قال يا رسول الله كم أعفو عن الخادم فقال كل يوم سبعين مرة
Hasan.Abu Dawud also recorded it in the Book of Manners, chapter on the right of the slave, hadith 5164, from the hadith of Abu Hani, with the same wording, as will come later. The hadith has a corroborating narration in Muslim, hadith 1664.Rushdin was followed by Ibn Wahb, and Abu Dawud recorded it from his hadith, and its chain of transmission is hasan.
