The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "He is not one of us who does not show mercy to our young, honor our elderly, command what is right, and forbid what is wrong."
حدثنا أبو بكر محمد بن أبان حدثنا يزيد بن هارون عن شريك عن ليث عن عكرمة
قال رسول الله ﷺ ليس منا من لم يرحم صغيرنا ويوقر كبيرنا ويأمر بالمعروف وينه عن المنكر
[Its chain is daif]. Ahmad narrated it (1/251) from the hadith of Layth, from Abdul-Malik, from Ikrima, with this wording, and the chain is daif. However, the substance of the hadith has many corroborating witnesses. Tahawi narrated in Mushkil Athar (2/133) and Ahmad (5/323), from Ubada bin Samit, that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "He is not of my nation who does not show respect to our elders, show mercy to our young, and recognize the right of our scholar." Its chain is hasan, as Munziri stated in Targheeb wa Tarheeb (1/144), and the addition is from Tahawi.
