The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Whatever intoxicates in large amounts, a small amount of it is forbidden."
حدثنا قتيبة حدثنا إسمعيل بن جعفر ح و حدثنا علي بن حجر أخبرنا إسمعيل بن جعفر عن داود بن بكر بن أبي الفرات عن ابن المنكدر
أن رسول الله ﷺ قال ما أسكر كثيره فقليله حرام
Its chain of transmission is hasan. Abu Dawud narrated it in the Book of Drinks, chapter on what has been said concerning intoxicants, no. 3681, from Qutayba, and Ibn Majah, no. 3393, narrating from Dawud bin Bakr with the same chain. Ibn Jarud graded it sahih, no. 860. It has another route in Ibn Hibban (al-Ihsan) 7/379, no. 5358.There is also a version narrated on the authority of Saad [Nasai, no. 5612], Ayesha [coming up, 1866], Abdullah bin Amr [Ibn Majah, no. 3394], Ibn Umar [Ibn Majah, no. 3392], and Khawwat bin Jubayr [Tabarani in al-Kabir, 4/205, no. 4149].
