We startled a rabbit at Marr al-Zahran. The Prophet's ﷺ companions chased after it, but I caught up with it and took hold of it. I brought it to Abu Talha, who slaughtered it with a sharp stone. He sent its thigh, or its hindquarter, with me to the Prophet ﷺ, and he ate it.The narrator was asked, "He ate it?"He replied, "He accepted it."
حدثنا محمود بن غيلان حدثنا أبو داود أخبرنا شعبة عن هشام بن زيد بن أنس قال سمعت
أنفجنا أرنبا بمر الظهران فسعى أصحاب النبي ﷺ خلفها فأدركتها فأخذتها فأتيت بها أبا طلحة فذبحها بمروة فبعث معي بفخذها أو بوركها إلى النبي ﷺ فأكله قال قلت أكله قال قبله
Agreed upon. Bukhari narrated it in the Book of Sacrifices and Hunting, chapter on what has been said regarding hunting, hadith no. 5489, and Muslim, hadith no. 1953, both from the hadith of Shubah with this chain, and it is found in Musnad Abu Dawud Tayalisi, hadith no. 2066.There is also a narration on this topic from Jabir [previously mentioned at 1472], and from Ammar and Muhammad bin Safwan [Abu Dawud, hadith no. 2822, and Ibn Majah, hadith no. 3244].
