On the day of Uhud, my aunt brought my father's body to bury him in our family graveyard. Then a caller from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ announced, "Return the slain to the places where they fell."
حدثنا محمود بن غيلان حدثنا أبو داود أخبرنا شعبة عن الأسود بن قيس قال سمعت نبيحا العنزي يحدث
لما كان يوم أحد جاءت عمتي بأبي لتدفنه في مقابرنا فنادى منادي رسول الله ﷺ ردوا القتلى إلى مضاجعهم
[Its isnad is sahih]. Abu Dawud narrated it, no. 3165, and Ibn Majah, no. 1516, and Nasai. It is in Musnad Abu Dawud Tayalisi, no. 1780, in full, and no. 2006, from the hadith of Aswad bin Qays with the same wording. Ibn Khuzayma and Ibn Hibban graded it sahih, no. 774, 775, and Ibn Jarud, no. 553.
