The Prophet ﷺ said, "Truly, every one of you is a shepherd, and every one of you is responsible for his flock. The ruler set over the people is a shepherd and is responsible for his flock. The man is a shepherd over the people of his household and is responsible for them. The woman is a shepherd over her husband's house and is responsible for it. The servant is a shepherd over his master's property and is responsible for it. Truly, every one of you is a shepherd, and every one of you is responsible for his flock."
حدثنا قتيبة حدثنا الليث عن نافع
عن النبي ﷺ قال ألا كلكم راع وكلكم مسئول عن رعيته فالأمير الذي على الناس راع ومسئول عن رعيته والرجل راع على أهل بيته وهو مسئول عنهم والمرأة راعية على بيت بعلها وهي مسئولة عنه والعبد راع على مال سيده وهو مسئول عنه ألا فكلكم راع وكلكم مسئول عن رعيته
Agreed upon [by Bukhari and Muslim]. Muslim narrated it in the Book of Leadership, Chapter on the Virtue of the Just Ruler and the Punishment of the Unjust One, etc., hadith no. 1829, from Qutayba, and Bukhari narrated it, hadith no. 5188, from the hadith of Nafi, with the same wording.There are also narrations on this subject from Abu Hurairah [Tabarani in Al-Awsat: 5/479, hadith no. 4913, and 9/325, 26, hadith no. 8708], from Anas [to come in the same chapter], and from Abu Musa [to come in the same chapter].
