The Messenger of Allah ﷺ held a horse race for the trained horses from al-Hafya to Thaniyyat al-Wada, the distance between them being six miles, and for the untrained horses from Thaniyyat al-Wada to the mosque of Banu Zurayq, the distance between them being one mile. I was among those who raced, and my horse leapt over a wall with me.

أن رسول الله ﷺ أجرى المضمر من الخيل من الحفياء إلى ثنية الوداع وبينهما ستة أميال وما لم يضمر من الخيل من ثنية الوداع إلى مسجد بني زريق وبينهما ميل وكنت فيمن أجرى فوثب بي فرسي جدارا
Agreed upon [by Bukhari and Muslim]. Bukhari narrated it in the Book of Jihad and Expeditions, chapter on horse racing, no. 2868, from the hadith of Sufyan Thawri, and Muslim, no. 1870, from the hadith of Ubaydullah bin Umar, through him.On this topic there are also narrations from Abu Hurairah [coming up at 1700], Jabir [Tabarani in al-Awsat, 10/215, no. 9472], Anas [Bukhari, nos. 2871, 2872, 6501], and Ayesha [Ibn Majah, no. 1979].
