The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Bring me a shoulder blade or a writing board." Then he dictated, "Not equal are those believers who sit at home" [Nisa 4:95], while Amr bin Umm Maktum was standing behind him.Amr bin Umm Maktum asked, "Is there any concession for me?"Then the words "except those who have a disability" [Nisa 4:95] were revealed.

أن رسول الله ﷺ قال ائتوني بالكتف أو اللوح فكتب {لا يستوي القاعدون من المؤمنين} وعمرو بن أم مكتوم خلف ظهره فقال هل لي من رخصة فنزلت {غير أولي الضرر}
[Sahih] Nasai also narrated it, 6/10, hadith no. 3103 (Jihad, the chapter on the merit of those who fight over those who stay behind), from Nasr bin Ali, through the same chain. Bukhari narrated it, hadith no. 4594, and Muslim, hadith no. 1898, from the hadith of Abu Ishaq, through the same chain.On this subject there is also a narration from Ibn Abbas [coming up at 3032], Jabir [Muslim, hadith no. 1911], and Zayd bin Thabit [coming up at 3033, and Ahmad, 5/184].The hadith of Shubah is found in Bukhari, hadith nos. 2831 and 4593, and Muslim, hadith no. 1898/141, and the hadith of Sufyan Thawri is found in Tirmidhi, hadith no. 3031.
