I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say, "Whoever shoots an arrow in the path of Allah, it is equal in reward to freeing a slave."
حدثنا محمد بن بشار حدثنا معاذ بن هشام عن أبيه عن قتادة عن سالم بن أبي الجعد عن معدان بن أبي طلحة
سمعت رسول الله ﷺ يقول من رمى بسهم في سبيل الله فهو له عدل محرر
[Sahih] Abu Dawud also reported it in the Book of Emancipation, chapter on which slaves are most excellent, hadith 3965, from the hadith of Muaz bin Hisham with the same chain. Qatada explicitly stated that he heard it directly, as recorded by Ibn Mubarak in the Book of Jihad, hadith 219, and others. Ibn Hibban, Hakim, Dhahabi, and others graded it sahih.
