He asked the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, "Which charity is best?"He replied, "The service of a slave in the cause of Allah, the shade of a tent provided in the cause of Allah, or a breeding stallion donated in the cause of Allah."
حدثنا محمد بن رافع حدثنا زيد بن حباب حدثنا معاوية بن صالح عن كثير بن الحارث عن القاسم أبي عبد الرحمن
أنه سأل رسول الله ﷺ أي الصدقة أفضل قال خدمة عبد في سبيل الله أو ظل فسطاط أو طروقة فحل في سبيل الله
[Its chain of transmission is hasan]. Hakim narrated it, 2/90, 91, from the hadith of Zayd bin Hubab, and Tabarani, 17/106, no. 255, from the hadith of Muawiya bin Salih through the same route, and Hakim graded it sahih, and Dhahabi agreed with him. The hadith has a hasan corroborating narration that comes after it.
