The Messenger of Allah ﷺ was on a journey and Bilal was with him. Bilal wanted to call the iqamah, but the Prophet ﷺ said, "Wait until it cools down."Then Bilal wanted to call the iqamah again, and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Wait for the Zuhr prayer until it cools down."The narrator said, "We waited until we saw the shadows of the mounds." Then Bilal called the iqamah and the prayer was performed.The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "The intensity of the heat is from the blast of Hellfire, so delay the prayer until it cools down."
حدثنا محمود بن غيلان حدثنا أبو داود الطيالسي قال أنبأنا شعبة عن مهاجر أبي الحسن عن زيد بن وهب
أن رسول الله ﷺ كان في سفر ومعه بلال فأراد أن يقيم فقال أبرد ثم أراد أن يقيم فقال رسول الله ﷺ أبرد في الظهر قال حتى رأينا فيء التلول ثم أقام فصلى فقال رسول الله ﷺ إن شدة الحر من فيح جهنم فأبردوا عن الصلاة
Agreed upon [by Bukhari and Muslim]. Bukhari narrated it in the Book of Prayer Times, chapter on delaying Dhuhr for coolness while traveling, no. 539, and Muslim in the Book of Mosques, chapter on the recommendation of delaying Dhuhr for coolness in intense heat, etc., no. 616, from Musnad Abu Dawud Tayalisi, no. 445.
