Ayesha reported,

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ set out for Badr, and when he reached Harrat al-Wabra, a man from the polytheists, known for his courage and bravery, caught up with him. The Prophet ﷺ said to him, "Do you not believe in Allah and His Messenger?"He replied, "No."The Prophet said, "Then go back, for I will not seek the help of a polytheist."There is more to this hadith than this. This is a hasan gharib hadith.Some scholars act upon this, saying that no share of the war booty is given to the people of dhimma, even if they fight alongside the Muslims against the enemy. Other scholars held that they should be given a share if they take part in the fighting alongside the Muslims.It is reported from Zuhri that the Prophet ﷺ gave a share to a group of Jews who fought with him. Qutayba bin Saeed narrated this to us, saying Abd al-Warith bin Saeed informed us, from Azra bin Thabit, from Zuhri, with this report.

أن رسول الله ﷺ خرج إلى بدر حتى إذا كان بحرة الوبرة لحقه رجل من المشركين يذكر منه جرأة ونجدة فقال له النبي ﷺ ألست تؤمن بالله ورسوله قال لا قال ارجع فلن أستعين بمشرك وفي الحديث كلام أكثر من هذا هذا حديث حسن غريب والعمل على هذا عند بعض أهل العلم قالوا لا يسهم لأهل الذمة وإن قاتلوا مع المسلمين العدو ورأى بعض أهل العلم أن يسهم لهم إذا شهدوا القتال مع المسلمين ويروى عن الزهري أن النبي ﷺ أسهم لقوم من اليهود قاتلوا معه حدثنا بذلك قتيبة بن سعيد أخبرنا عبد الوارث بن سعيد عن عزرة بن ثابت عن الزهري بهذا
