We were with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ on a journey when the Day of Sacrifice arrived, so we shared a cow between seven of us and a camel between ten.
حدثنا أبو عمار الحسين بن حريث حدثنا الفضل بن موسى عن الحسين بن واقد عن علباء بن أحمر عن عكرمة
كنا مع رسول الله ﷺ في سفر فحضر الأضحى فاشتركنا في البقرة سبعة وفي البعير عشرة
[Its isnad is hasan]. Ibn Majah narrated it in the Book of Sacrifices, chapter, "How Many People a Camel or a Cow Suffices For," 3131, and Nasai, 4397, from the hadith of Fadl bin Musa, with the same wording.On this subject there is also a narration from Abu Ashadd Sulami, from his father, from his grandfather [Ahmad, 3/424], and from Abu Ayub [coming up, 1505].
