The Prophet ﷺ said, "Whoever keeps a dog, except for a dog used for guarding livestock, hunting, or tending crops, will have one qirat deducted from his reward each day."
حدثنا الحسن بن علي الحلواني وغير واحد قالوا أخبرنا عبد الرزاق أخبرنا معمر عن الزهري عن أبي سلمة بن عبد الرحمن
أن النبي ﷺ قال من اتخذ كلبا إلا كلب ماشية أو صيد أو زرع انتقص من أجره كل يوم قيراط
Muslim also recorded it in al-Musaqah, in the chapter on the command to kill dogs and the explanation of its abrogation, etc., hadith no. 1575, from the hadith of Abdul-Razzaq with this chain. Abu Dawud also narrated it, hadith no. 2844, from Hasan bin Ali with this chain.The report of Ata bin Abu Rabah is sahih from him.
