The Prophet ﷺ arrived in Medina while the people were cutting off the humps of camels and the fat tails of sheep. He said, "Whatever is cut from an animal while it is alive is considered carrion."Ibrahim bin Yaqub al-Jawzajani narrated to us, Abu Nadr narrated to us from Abdul-Rahman bin Abdullah bin Dinar a similar report.

قدم النبي ﷺ المدينة وهم يجبون أسنمة الإبل ويقطعون أليات الغنم فقال ما قطع من البهيمة وهي حية فهي ميتة حدثنا إبراهيم بن يعقوب الجوزجاني حدثنا أبو النضر عن عبد الرحمن بن عبد الله بن دينار نحوه
[Its isnad is hasan]. Abu Dawud narrated it in the Book of Hunting, chapter "If a Piece Is Cut from the Game," hadith 2858, from the hadith of Abdul-Rahman bin Abdullah bin Dinar, and he is hasan al-hadith. Ibn Jarud graded it sahih, hadith 876, as did Hakim and Dhahabi, and it has a corroborating witness in Hakim, 4/239.
