A man who had had relations with his wife's slave girl was brought before Numan bin Bashir, and he said, "I will decide this case with the judgment of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. If she made the girl lawful for him, I will give him a hundred lashes, and if she did not make her lawful for him, I will have him stoned."Ali bin Hujr narrated to us, Hushaym narrated to us, from Abu Bishr, from Habib bin Salim, from Numan bin Bashir, something similar.It is also reported that Qatada said he wrote about it to Habib bin Salim. And Abu Bishr did not hear this from Habib bin Salim either. He narrated it only from Khalid bin Arfata.

رفع إلى النعمان بن بشير رجل وقع على جارية امرأته فقال لأقضين فيها بقضاء رسول الله ﷺ لئن كانت أحلتها له لأجلدنه مائة وإن لم تكن أحلتها له رجمته حدثنا علي بن حجر حدثنا هشيم عن أبي بشر عن حبيب بن سالم عن النعمان بن بشير نحوه ويروى عن قتادة أنه قال كتب به إلى حبيب بن سالم وأبو بشر لم يسمع من حبيب بن سالم هذا أيضا إنما رواه عن خالد بن عرفطة
[Hasan]. Ibn Majah also narrated it in the Book of Legal Punishments, Chapter on One Who Has Intercourse with His Wife's Slave-Girl, no. 2551 and no. 2552 and elsewhere, and Nasai, no. 3364, from the hadith of Qatada, through him, but the chain contains a flaw. It has a corroborating witness in Ibn Majah, and its chain is hasan.
