The Prophet ﷺ would impose the amputation penalty for theft of a quarter of a Dinar or more.
حدثنا علي بن حجر حدثنا سفيان بن عيينة عن الزهري أخبرته عمرة
أن النبي ﷺ كان يقطع في ربع دينار فصاعدا
Agreed upon (by Bukhari and Muslim). Muslim also reported it in the Book of Legal Punishments, Chapter on the Punishment for Theft and its Minimum Threshold, no. 1684, through the hadith of Sufyan bin Uyayna, and Bukhari reported it, no. 6789, through the hadith of Zuhri, with the same content.
