The Messenger of Allah ﷺ administered the prescribed punishment of forty lashes with two sandals. Masaar said, "I think it was for drinking wine."
حدثنا سفيان بن وكيع حدثنا أبي عن مسعر عن زيد العمي عن أبي الصديق الناجي
أن رسول الله ﷺ ضرب الحد بنعلين أربعين قال مسعر أظنه في الخمر
[Its chain of transmission is daif]. Nasai also recorded it in Al-Kubra, no. 5293, through the hadith of Masaar with the same wording.
