The Prophet ﷺ gave a young boy the choice between his father and his mother.
حدثنا نصر بن علي حدثنا سفيان عن زياد بن سعد عن هلال بن أبي ميمونة الثعلبي عن أبي ميمونة
أن النبي ﷺ خير غلاما بين أبيه وأمه
Grading, sahih.It was also narrated by Ibn Majah in the chapter on rulings, in the section on giving the child the choice between his parents, hadith 2351, through Sufyan bin Uyayna, and by Abu Dawud, hadith 2277, through Ziyad bin Saad, with the same account.On this subject there is also a report from Abdullah bin Amr [Abu Dawud, hadith 2276], and from the grandfather of Abdul-Hameed bin Jafar [Abu Dawud, hadith 2244].
