The Prophet of Allah ﷺ said, "The lifetime gift is valid for its recipients," or "It becomes inheritance for their heirs."
حدثنا محمد بن المثنى حدثنا ابن أبي عدي عن سعيد عن قتادة عن الحسن
أن نبي الله ﷺ قال العمرى جائزة لأهلها أو ميراث لأهلها
[Sahih]. Ahmad narrated it (8/5) from the hadith of Saeed bin Abu Aruba, and Abu Dawud, no. 3549, from the hadith of Qatada through the same route. This hadith has very many corroborating narrations.There are also narrations on this subject from Zayd bin Thabit [Nasai, no. 3745–3754, and Ibn Hibban, no. 1149, 1150], Jabir [coming up at no. 1350], Abu Hurairah [Bukhari, no. 2626, and Muslim, no. 1626], Ayesha [I did not find it], Ibn Zubayr [Jami al-Masanid wal-Sunan by Ibn Kathir, 7/520, no. 5484, attributed by him to Tabarani], and Muawiya [Ahmad, 4/97, 99].
