The Messenger of Allah ﷺ passed by a heap of grain and thrust his hand into it, and his fingers came out wet.He asked, "What is this, owner of the grain?"The man replied, "It was caught in the rain, Messenger of Allah."He said, "Why didn't you put the wet portion on top of the heap so that people could see it?" Then he said, "Whoever deceives is not one of us."
حدثنا علي بن حجر أخبرنا إسمعيل بن جعفر عن العلاء بن عبد الرحمن عن أبيه
أن رسول الله ﷺ مر على صبرة من طعام فأدخل يده فيها فنالت أصابعه بللا فقال يا صاحب الطعام ما هذا قال أصابته السماء يا رسول الله قال أفلا جعلته فوق الطعام حتى يراه الناس ثم قال من غش فليس منا
Citation: Also narrated by Muslim, Book of Iman, chapter of the saying of the Prophet ﷺ, "Whoever cheats us is not one of us," no. 102, from Ali bin Hajar, through the same chain.This matter is also narrated from Ibn Umar [Ahmad 50/3], Abu Hamra [Ibn Majah, no. 2225], Ibn Abbas [Tabarani in Kabir 221/11, no. 11553], Burayda [Harith bin Abu Usama, Matalib Aliyah 1/3, no. 2905], Abu Burda bin Dinar [Ahmad 466/3, 45/4], and Huzaifa bin Yaman [Tabarani in Awsat 12/529, no. 997].
