The Prophet ﷺ said, "Neither a menstruating woman nor someone in a state of major ritual impurity should recite anything from the Quran."
Its chain is daif. Ibn Majah narrated it in "Purification," in the chapter "What Has Been Said About Reciting the Quran Without Purification," hadith 595, from the hadith of Ismail bin Ayyash, with the same wording. Musa bin Uqba was Madinan, Hijazi, and Ismail's narration from the Hijazis is daif, as mentioned in Tahdhib and elsewhere. There is also a report on this subject from Ali [coming at 146, which suffices in its place].
