Mukhrafah al-Abdi and I brought cloth from Hajar, and the Prophet ﷺ came to us and bargained with us over a pair of trousers. I had with me a man who weighed goods for a fee, so the Prophet ﷺ said to the weigher, "Weigh it, and tip the scale in his favor."
حدثنا هناد ومحمود بن غيلان قالا حدثنا وكيع عن سفيان عن سماك بن حرب
جلبت أنا ومخرفة العبدي بزا من هجر فجاءنا النبي ﷺ فساومنا بسراويل وعندي وزان يزن بالأجر فقال النبي ﷺ للوزان زن وأرجح
[Sahih]. Ibn Majah also reported it in the Book of Trade, Chapter on Tipping the Scale in Weighing, no. 2220, from the hadith of Waki. Abu Dawud, no. 3336, and others reported it from the hadith of Sufyan Thawri, and Qays bin Rabi followed him in narrating it, for which see Abu Dawud, no. 3337, and others. Ibn Hibban graded the hadith sahih, no. 1444, and Ibn Jarud has a supporting narration, no. 559.There is also a narration on this topic from Jabir bin Samura [Ibn Majah, no. 2222] and Abu Hurairah [Abu Yaala, 11/24, no. 6162].
