The Prophet ﷺ forbade muhaqalah and muzabanah, except that he permitted the owners of araya to sell their fruit based on an estimated measure equivalent to its yield.
[Sahih] Ahmad also recorded it, 5/185, 190, from the hadith of Ibn Ishaq with the same wording, and he explicitly stated that he heard it directly, so the chain is hasan. It has other routes in Bukhari, no. 2172, 2173, and Muslim, no. 1539, from Nafi with the same wording. There is also a narration on this subject from Abu Hurairah [to come at no. 1301] and from Jabir [Muslim, no. 1536/97, and Abu Dawud, no. 1662, and others].
