The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "There is no worse example for us than one who takes back his gift, he is like a dog that returns to its vomit."
حدثنا أحمد بن عبدة الضبي حدثنا عبد الوهاب الثقفي حدثنا أيوب عن عكرمة
أن رسول الله ﷺ قال ليس لنا مثل السوء العائد في هبته كالكلب يعود في قيئه
Bukhari narrated it in "The Book of Gifts and Their Merits and Encouragement Thereof," chapter "It is not permissible for anyone to take back his gift or charity," hadith 2622, from the hadith of Ayub Sakhtiyani through him. Muslim also narrated it, hadith 1622, from the hadith of Ibn Abbas.There is also a narration on this subject from Ibn Umar [coming up next, 1299].
