A man came to the Prophet ﷺ having pronounced the zihar oath against his wife and then having had relations with her. He said, "Messenger of Allah, I pronounced zihar against my wife and then had relations with her before making expiation."The Prophet ﷺ asked, "What led you to do that, may Allah have mercy on you?"The man replied, "I saw her anklet in the moonlight."He said, "Then do not go near her until you do what Allah has commanded you."
حدثنا أبو عمار الحسين بن حريث حدثنا الفضل بن موسى عن معمر عن الحكم بن أبان عن عكرمة
أن رجلا أتى النبي ﷺ قد ظاهر من امرأته فوقع عليها فقال يا رسول الله إني قد ظاهرت من زوجتي فوقعت عليها قبل أن أكفر فقال وما حملك على ذلك يرحمك الله قال رأيت خلخالها في ضوء القمر قال فلا تقربها حتى تفعل ما أمرك الله به
[Its isnad is hasan] Nasai also narrated it, 6/167, hadith 3487 (Divorce, chapter on Zihar), from Husayn bin Hurayth through the same route, and Jarud graded it sahih, hadith 747.
