The Prophet ﷺ was asked about a man who pronounces zihar against his wife and then has intercourse with her before offering expiation. He said, "A single expiation."
حدثنا أبو سعيد الأشج حدثنا عبد الله بن إدريس عن محمد بن إسحق عن محمد بن عمرو بن عطاء عن سليمان بن يسار
عن النبي ﷺ في المظاهر يواقع قبل أن يكفر قال كفارة واحدة
[Its chain of transmission is daif] Ibn Majah narrated it in the Book of Divorce, chapter on the one who pronounces zihar and has intercourse before making atonement, no. 2064, from Ashaj through the same route. Ibn Khuzayma graded it sahih, no. 2378, as did Ibn Jarud, no. 744, and Hakim, 2/203, saying it meets the criteria of Muslim, and Dhahabi agreed with him. But Bukhari said, "In my view, Sulayman did not hear from Salama." The hadith that follows (1200) serves in its place.
