He proposed to a woman, and the Prophet ﷺ said to him, "Look at her, for that is more likely to bring harmony between you."
حدثنا أحمد بن منيع حدثنا ابن أبي زائدة قال حدثني عاصم بن سليمان هو الأحول عن بكر بن عبد الله المزني
أنه خطب امرأة فقال النبي ﷺ انظر إليها فإنه أحرى أن يؤدم بينكما
[Its chain is sahih]. Nasai also reported it: 69/6, 70, hadith: 3237 (Nikah, chapter on the permissibility of looking at a woman before marriage), from the hadith of Asim Ahwal through the same route, and Ibn Jarud graded it sahih, hadith: 675.There are also narrations on this subject from Muhammad bin Maslama [Ibn Majah, hadith: 1864], Jabir [Abu Dawud, hadith: 2082], Anas [Ibn Majah, hadith: 1865], Abu Humayd [Ahmad: 424/5], and Abu Hurairah [Muslim, hadith: 1424].
