The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "When a servant's child dies, Allah asks His angels, 'Have you taken the soul of My servant's child?' They reply, 'Yes.' He asks, 'Have you taken the fruit of his heart?' They reply, 'Yes.' He asks, 'What did My servant say?' They reply, 'He praised You and said, We belong to Allah and to Him we shall return.' Then Allah says, 'Build for My servant a house in Paradise and call it the House of Praise.'"
حدثنا سويد بن نصر حدثنا عبد الله بن المبارك عن حماد بن سلمة عن أبي سنان قال دفنت ابني سنانا وأبو طلحة الخولاني جالس على شفير القبر فلما أردت الخروج أخذ بيدي فقال ألا أبشرك يا أبا سنان قلت بلى فقال حدثني الضحاك بن عبد الرحمن بن عرزب
أن رسول الله ﷺ قال إذا مات ولد العبد قال الله لملائكته قبضتم ولد عبدي فيقولون نعم فيقول قبضتم ثمرة فؤاده فيقولون نعم فيقول ماذا قال عبدي فيقولون حمدك واسترجع فيقول الله ابنوا لعبدي بيتا في الجنة وسموه بيت الحمد
Its chain is daif. Ahmad reported it in 4/415 from the hadith of Ibn Mubarak with this chain, and it is also in his Zuhd, page 27, hadith 108, in the narration of Naeem bin Hammad, who is truthful. Ibn Hibban graded it sahih, hadith 727, and Baghawi graded it hasan in Sharh al-Sunnah, hadith 1549. Bayhaqi said in 1/284–285 that Dahhak bin Abdul-Rahman's hearing from Abu Musa has not been established, and that Isa bin Sinan is daif.
