We prostrated with the Prophet ﷺ during the recitation of "When the sky is split asunder" and "Recite in the name of your Lord."
[Its chain of transmission is sahih] Tirmidhi narrated it in the Book of Prayer, chapter on the sajdah in "When the Sky Splits Open" and "Recite in the Name of Your Lord...", hadith 574, and Ibn Majah narrated it in the Book of Establishing Prayers, chapter on the number of sajdahs of the Quran, hadith 1059, both from the hadith of Sufyan bin Uyayna, transmitted through this chain. He explicitly stated that he heard it directly, as recorded by Humaydi, hadith 998, and it is also found in al-Kubra, hadith 1035. Tirmidhi said, "Hasan sahih." It has corroborating narrations in Muslim and elsewhere.
