He asked Zayd bin Thabit about reciting along with the imam, and Zayd replied, "There is no recitation along with the imam in anything." He also stated that he recited to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ "By the star when it sets" [Najm 53:1], and the Prophet did not prostrate.
أخبرنا علي بن حجر قال أنبأنا إسمعيل وهو ابن جعفر عن يزيد بن خصيفة عن يزيد بن عبد الله بن قسيط
أنه سأل زيد بن ثابت عن القراءة مع الإمام فقال لا قراءة مع الإمام في شيء وزعم أنه قرأ على رسول الله ﷺ والنجم إذا هوى فلم يسجد
Muslim narrated it in the Book of Mosques, chapter on the sajdah of recitation, hadith no. 577, from Ali bin Hajar, and Bukhari, in the Book of the sajdah of the Quran, chapter on one who recites the sajdah verse and does not prostrate, hadith no. 1072, from the hadith of Ismail bin Jafar, with the same wording. It is also in Al-Kubra, hadith no. 1032.
