I followed the Messenger of Allah ﷺ while he was riding, and I placed my hand on his foot and said, "Messenger of Allah, teach me to recite Surah Hud and Surah Yusuf."He replied, "You will never recite anything more powerful before Allah than 'Say, I seek refuge in the Lord of the daybreak' [Falaq 113:1] and 'Say, I seek refuge in the Lord of mankind' [Nas 114:1]."
[Its chain of transmission is sahih] Ahmad transmitted it (4:149, 159) from the hadith of Layth bin Saad, with the same wording. It is also found in Kubra, hadith no. 1025, and Ibn Hibban graded it sahih, hadith nos. 1776 and 1777, as did Hakim (2:540) and Dhahabi. It has another chain in Muslim, hadith no. 814, and elsewhere.Abu Imran stated explicitly that he heard it from Uqbah.
